Adopt a Garden
Adopt a Garden is a volunteer activity where organizations, groups, or individuals "adopt" a garden on the Riverview Park and Zoo grounds.
Join our volunteer community and show off your gardening skills by helping us plant and maintain our gardens during the spring, summer and fall.
Email us or call 705-748-9301 ext. 2339.
Why Adopt a Garden? |
Gardening is a great way to get outdoors and relieve stress. If you do not have space to garden at home, or need an extra garden to tend, this is a great opportunity for you! Businesses and organizations can also use our Adopt a Garden program as a team building activity and a way to give back to the community. Hand painted flagstones featuring the individual's or organization's name will be placed in each garden. |
What will you need? |
Adopters will need to provide plants, with guidance from horticultural staff, maintenance and their creative gardening skills! Some gardening tools are available on a limited basis at the Riverview Park and Zoo but volunteers are encouraged to bring their own. |
When do we start? |
Kick off to the gardening season starts in late April with an orientation meeting. Once you adopt, the garden will be yours to care for from May 1 to October 31. |
How much does it cost? |
Adoption is free and is done on an annual basis! Plant purchases are up to you, but we will reimburse you to a certain amount depending on your garden choice. |

Don't have time to tend the garden but would still like to Adopt a Garden? |
You can Sponsor a Garden. Contribute a donation toward our horticultural programs. Hand painted flagstones featuring the individual's or organization's name will be placed in each garden for donations over $250. Large donations of $5,000 or more will also be recognized with placement on our donor wall. |
