Conservation

At Riverview Park and Zoo we are actively involved in conservation efforts. We are proud partners with local national and international organizations to help make a difference for wildlife and the environment.

Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) Programs

We participate in many AZA programs including the Species Survival Plan and the Population Management Plan (PMP) where shared research and resources help to develop and maintain sustainable and diverse populations of endangered or critically endangered species.

The Park and Zoo works with numerous educational and research institutions, providing opportunities for study and development for different species.

Education

The Park and Zoo welcomes thousands of students a year and over a quarter million visitors who learn about at-risk species, their natural habitats and what we can all do to help preserve them for future generations.

Zoo's play a large role in conservation by connecting people to nature. Through outdoor active play and educational discovery at Riverview Park and Zoo, young people have the opportunity to learn their role in conservation and wildlife protection.

Conservation begins with education.
